Every Revian plan includes e-signatures powered by SignWell. This article explains how many signatures are included with each tier, what happens when you exceed your allocation, and how admins can control overage spending.
Tier allocations
The number of e-signatures included each month depends on your Revian plan:
Monthly signature limits by plan
- Base - E-signatures not included (available as overage at $2 each)
- Plus - 5 e-signatures per user per month (pooled)
- Ultimate - 10 e-signatures per user per month (pooled)
These allocations are pooled across your organization. For example, if you have 10 users on Plus, your team shares a pool of 50 signatures per month (10 users × 5 each).
Unused signatures do not roll over to the next month. Your allocation resets on your billing date each month.
What counts as a signature? Each signature request you send counts as one signature, regardless of how many signature fields are in the document. A single document with three signers counts as one signature.
Overage pricing
When you exceed your monthly allocation, additional signatures cost $2 per signature. This overage pricing is the same across all plan tiers.
Example
You're on the Plus plan (25 signatures/month) and send 32 signature requests in January. The first 25 are included in your plan. The remaining 7 are charged at $2 each, adding $14 to your next invoice.
Overage charges appear as a separate line item on your monthly invoice. You'll see exactly how many additional signatures were used and the total overage amount.
Admin overage controls
Admins can control how the account handles overages. Go to Settings and then Billing and then E-signature Settings to configure your preference (see user roles for admin permissions).
Block mode
When your allocation is exhausted, no more signature requests can be sent until the next billing cycle. Users see a message explaining that the monthly limit has been reached.
This mode is best for teams that want strict cost control and can wait until the next month for additional signatures.
Limit mode
Allow overages up to a specified dollar amount. Once the cap is reached, additional requests are blocked until the next billing cycle.
To set a cap:
- Select Limit overages
- Enter your maximum monthly overage spend (e.g., $50)
- Click Save
Example
You set a $50 overage limit. After using your included signatures, your team can send up to 25 additional signature requests ($50 / $2 = 25). After that, requests are blocked until next month.
Unlimited mode
Allow unlimited overages with no cap. Signature requests are never blocked, and all overages are charged at $2 each.
This mode is best for teams where closing deals is the priority and you don't want signatures to ever be a bottleneck.
Note: Only account admins can change overage settings. Regular users can view the current setting but cannot modify it.
Usage notifications
Revian sends automatic notifications to help you stay on top of signature usage:
Notification triggers
- 80% warning - When you've used 80% of your monthly allocation
- 100% reached - When you've exhausted your included signatures
- First overage - When the first overage signature is sent
- Limit approaching - When you're at 80% of your overage cap (Limit mode only)
- Limit reached - When your overage cap is hit (Limit mode only)
Notifications are sent to account admins via email and in-app notification. You can customize which notifications you receive in your notification preferences.
Checking your usage
View your current signature usage anytime:
- Go to Settings and then Billing
- Find the E-signature Usage card
- See signatures used, remaining allocation, and any overages
The usage display shows a visual progress bar and resets on your billing date. You can also view historical usage by month to understand your typical signature volume.
Upgrading your plan
If you consistently exceed your signature allocation, consider upgrading to a higher tier:
- Base to Plus - Gain 5 signatures per user per month (pooled)
- Plus to Ultimate - Go from 5 to 10 signatures per user per month
Higher tiers often cost less per signature than paying overages. For example, if you're on Base and regularly sending 15 signatures per month, upgrading to Plus would save money compared to paying for 10 overages.
Contact our sales team if you need a custom allocation above 100 signatures per month.
